It’s finally happening! Mike an I have lived in an apartment for the past five years and we are finally ready to settle down and make a place our own.
We originally moved to the city because of our jobs, he is a biologist and travels for a good portion of the year. However, his office is located in the heart of the city. At the time I was also working an office job and my office was located on the outskirts of the city so living there just made sense.
Being a country girl this was a very difficult move for me, I cried every night for almost two months, seriously! What I had known was being reinforced. I needed to have my privacy, trees, and some space, so if I walk out of the house I don’t have to see other people every waking moment of the day.
After I left my office job in February I began to spend a great amount of my time back on the farm and Mike stopped dragging his feet and finally decided to propose (That’s a story for another post.) From there we began looking for a home in the country.
We found a beautiful piece of property not far from the farm that checked every box on our list. Barns, land, and a nice home for our future kids to grow up on. Having a space for our children to run around and to have animals is very important to me.
The house needs a few changes and upgrades but that will come in time. This is the first house we have ever owned so I know it’s going to be a big shock and more work than I ever imagined but just the thought of us having a beautiful property for our kids to grow up on makes it all worth it.
For now, we have a lot of work to do, luckily we don’t have much “stuff” which makes moving much easier.
I am excited to keep you all up-to date with our new home and share our projects with you. As I know there will be many laugh worthy moments to share.
If you have any advice for first time homebuyers or any great places to shop for good bargains please let me know! As I love a good deal and will take any tips and tricks that I can.
